About Leicestershire Together - Key Projects

The Leicestershire Funding Toolkit was launched in July 2006. The site provides advice and guidance on how to develop projects and secure the funding to make them happen. The site is aimed at voluntary and community organisations across the County and also provides a searchable database of funding sources covering government, lottery and trust funding.

The Leicestershire Statistics and Research Online (LSR) web portal provides a single point of access for partners to share socio-economic data about the area. The portal  provides statistical data plus access to a range of locally published research reports. Visit the site to find out more about the people and places of Leicestershire.

Leicestershire Together has worked with the Valuing People team to carry out an audit of Community Facilities. The resulting database includes information on over 500 venues across the county, including details of what rooms are available to hire, opening hours, accessibility of the venues and contact details.

The Jitty is a web portal for young people, developed by young people. It offers information and links to information and support for young people in Leicestershire, mainly between 13 and 19. The site is run by approximately 50 young people from across the County under the guidance of a Project Manager, and won a national "Wavemakers Award" in 2006. Katy (a former student at Guthlaxton College) said "I would encourage young people to get involved and get their views across. The Jitty gives you an opportunity to write about any subject that affects youth in Leicestershire".

The County Council, on behalf of Leicestershire Together, managed a £3.5m Access Centre Programme which attracted over £1.6m funding from the Leicester Shire Economic Partnership (LSEP) between 2004 and 2007. Access Centres deliver a range of services to communities, including basic skills training, IT training, childcare facilities, job/career guidance, structured outreach provision and public internet access. This project is now managed by the Leicestershire and Leicester City Local Learning Partnership.
