Responding to our Peer Challenge

In 2006, Leicestershire Together was subject to a Peer Challenge, with a particular focus on how “fit for purpose” the partnership is to deliver the Leicestershire LAA.

The Assessors spent two days in Leicestershire in March 2006. Prior to the site visit, we completed a partnership self assessment against the quality framework provided by the Assessors, which covered:

  • Vision & Strategy
  • Leadership
  • Governance & Management
  • Relationships
  • Performance Management
  • Achievements & Impact

Our self assessment also took into account the Performance Management Self Assessment of Leicestershire Together conducted in 2004 and the resulting Performance Management Action Plan. Our self assessment can be viewed here.

Prior to the site visit, the Team of assessors also considered a range of background information about Leicestershire Together. During their time in Leicestershire they received presentations on our work, led interviews and focus group discussions with partners and stakeholders and saw demonstrations of key projects.

A Sub Group was established to consider the findings and recommendations of the Peer Challenge and to develop a draft Action Plan to address the key recommendations. There was also a workshop at the Conference on 30th October 2006 on the outcomes of the Peer Challenge.

The new structure of the partnership is a direct result of the Peer Challenge and there are many other changes underway. A full report of the peer challenge, written by the panel, can be viewed here. A list of the key actions to be implemented in 2007 can be viewed here.
